Whiskey sipper made from locally gathered clay. So Whiskey sipper made from locally gathered clay. Sometimes I forage for new materials with my clay geek friends. Armed with geological maps  which help us identify potential areas, we plan our trips during the cooler months. It’s fun and exciting to explore local geological formations. Here in North Carolina we have an abundance of clay . That’s why potters originally congregated in this area.

This Deer like animal is salt glazed. It is made of clay gathered from the land we live on in Whynot North Carolina. The Piedmont is clay rich that’s why potters originally settled here. In the old days no clay no potters.
